Kloster Schöntal

As a result of communal reorganization in 1972, the formerly independent communities of Aschhausen, Berlichingen, Bieringen, Schöntal, Marlach, Oberkessch, Sindeldorf and Westernhausen were united to form a new community bearing the name of Schöntal after the monastery of Schöntal.

Kloster Schöntal

The former Cistercian monastery lies on the banks of the river Jagst. Today it houses a centre for further education and extramural activities belonging to the Catholic Church of the Dioceses of Rothenburg / Stuttgart. It is a modern conference centre open for all kinds of programmes open to the wide public. It is not only a place of encountment and discussion, but also of meditation and silence and is used for professional, cultural and educational programmes.
