Hiking in the Hohenlohekreis

Description of landscape:
To the south lies the ridge of the Schwäbisch – Fränkische Waldberge, an area of wooded hills called the Waldenburger Berge. Next to this, following rivers Kupfer and Kocher is the Hohenloher Ebene, a flat landscape. It is divided into four slightly hilly areas of thinly populated agricultural countryside by the Epbach, Hirschbach, Sall and tributaries. The area is 350m above sea level. Tumuli show signs of early settlements. The wooded areas of the Kupfertal stand to a certain extent on less fertile soil. Settlement patterns have remained almost unaltered for centuries owing to direct farm descendancy.

The Albverein is a kind of Rambling Association in Baden - Württemberg.

Route description
From Waldenburg (former Reichsburg in 12th cen-tury) to the Streithof. Here right to Theresienberg (498m). On Theresienberg is the hostel of local Albverein Group in Waldenburg. It has a large recreational area and playground for children. From Eichberg the route leads westwards along 100m high terrace downhill ending in small ope-ning with adjacent vineyards. Through vineyards on serpentine path to Eschelbach. In Eschelbach route turns northwards and continues north along a sunken path, eventually reaching Neuenstein / Eichhof. Route runs northwards to Emmertshof following road to Kirchensall and crossing railway lines; then to east until shortly before Löschenhirschbach. Here northwards out of Hirschbachtal via Salltal to Herrengreut. From here southwards to Neufels. After Waldzimmern, path leads to beautiful woods that briefly touch Walderholungszentrum (Recreational centre) in woodlands and ends after steep drop through gorge, Katzenklinge, into Künzelsau.
